I’m a retired licensed psychologist who spent most of his career crawling in and out of the dark spaces of troubled psyches of childhood trauma, adolescent anguish, adult crisis, and turbulent relationships finding, taming, and calming fearful monsters.
I served in the army during the Vietnam war with the 101st Airborne from October 1968 to September 1969. After being released from Vietnam, I attended California State University Fullerton and completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, several counseling and teaching credentials, and a School Psychology credential. I transferred to the United States International University in San Diego and completed a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and later became a licensed Psychologist, Clinical.
Along the way, after completing my Bachelor’s I worked with the California Youth Authority as a Counselor and later as a Psychologist. Once I completed my Master’s degree, I earned a license as a Marriage Family Child Counselor and worked at Fullerton Community College with returning Vietnam Veterans.
After becoming a Licensed Psychologist, I practiced with a broad spectrum of clinicians in a hospital, residential and multi-office settings for several years before branching out independently. As a part of my work, during the next two decades, I subcontracted to interview and evaluate veterans from every war since WWII and completed Board Certification for over a dozen post-doctoral diplomates in various specialties in psychology including War Trauma.
My wife and I retired from our active practice in Orange County after thirty years of challenging and rewarding work. We moved to Gig Harbor, Washington where we are enjoying our golden years, her painting, and me, writing.
